John B. Lawton Jr.

John B. Lawton Jr., 81, of Bellingham, Mass., passed away suddenly on a family vacation in Cape May, N.J., on Aug. 24, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Beverly J. Lawton for 59 years. Born on June 3, 1932 and raised in Newport, R.I., he was the son of the late John B. Lawton and Eleanor H. Lawton. A U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran, he served as a member of the Hurricane Hunters Squadron from 1954 to 1957 at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda, where his oldest son, John B. Lawton III of Old Lyme, Conn., was born. He is also survived by his two other children, Jeffrey B. Lawton of Arlington, Va. (U.S.C.G., retired 1978-2005) and Jennifer B. Lawton of Baltimore (U.S. Army, 1984-1995), and his granddaughters, Jillian B. Lawton and Jade B. Lawton.
