Bobby G. Rogers

Bobby G. Rogers, CPOHMC, passed on June 18, 2016, in Fort Smith, Ark., after suffering from congestive heart failure and a heart attack. He served for 20 years in the Navy, and of those he spent eight years with the Marine Corps. He was a "doc" in Vietnam with the Corps. He served with the 1st, 3rd and 4th divisions. He loved his naval career, but most of all he loved his country. Always ready to go back in, if and when our country needed him, regardless of his health. He always said, "I can always do physicals." He was one of a kind. The ships he served on were USS Libra AKA 12, out of Norfolk Naval Station, USS Sierra AD 18,a destroyer tender. In 1966, he was assigned to USS Aeolus ARC 3, out of Kittery, Maine, a cable layer ship. He served in Vietnam from December 1968 to January 1969, with the 9th Motor Battalion, 3rd Marine Div. in Dong Ha Combat Base. Upon returning to the USA, he was stationed in Albuquerque, N.M., U.S. Army Hospital Sandia, where he was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal for his work in Vietnam. In l971, he was again awarded an Army Commendation Medal for sending up and running the retirement physicals program. After serving our country honorably he retired Oct. 29, 1971. He lived in Muldrow, Okla., for 40 years his hometown, until his passing.
