The American Legion Legacy Run is crossing the heartland en route to Milwaukee and the 92nd National Convention. The 1,200-mile ride raises funds for The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund, which provides college education money for the children of those who have given their lives in uniform since 9/11. Dole. During World War II, Dole served with the 10th Mountain Division, receiving a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
An 11-minute, 8mm film of The American Legion parade at its 1947 National Convention in New York City is being transferred to digital format. The film and its digital copy will be preserved at American Legion National Headquarters.
