The Legion is attending a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing titled “American Jobs Now: A Legislative Hearing the North American Energy Access Act.” This proposed legislation, introduced by Rep. Lee Terry, R-Neb., would transfer permitting approval authority over the Keystone XL Pipeline to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Terry favors construction of the pipeline. Last week, American Legion National Commander Fang Wong expressed "deep disappointment" over President Obama’s recent denial of a permit request for the pipeline. Wong argued that blockading Keystone Pipeline development is not in the best interests of job creation and national security.
