Eight teams en route to World Series

Eight teams won their respective division’s regional tournaments and are now on their way to Keeter Stadium in Shelby, N.C., for the 2012 American Legion Baseball World Series. And one team is quite familiar with the state-of-the-art playing field from competing in last year’s Series: Brooklawn, N.J., Post 72, making a second-straight appearance.

The following are the eight American Legion World Series teams:

Northeast Division – Milford, Conn., sponsored by Post 196

Southeast Division – Florence, S.C., sponsored by Post 1

Central Plains Division – Omaha, Neb., sponsored by Post 1

Northwest Division – Bellevue, Wash.

Mid-Atlantic Division – Brooklawn, N.J., sponsored by Legion Post 72.

Great Lakes Division – Moline, Ill., sponsored by Post 246

Mid-South Division – New Orleans, sponsored by Post 125

Western Division – Lakewood, Calif., sponsored by Post 496

Meanwhile, follow all eight teams throughout the Legion World Series by watching the games streamed live on ESPN3.com – find a direct link to the ESPN3 site by visiting www.legion.org. Additionally, stay tuned to www.legion.org to read daily highlights, track game scores and stats and view game photos; and ‘Like’ Legion Baseball on Facebook for quick, up-to-date World Series information.

Friday’s games will get under way at 9:30 a.m. (EDT) with California and Nebraska batting for the first, of many, Series wins. See the pairings bracket here for all other game times.
