Veterans hiring fair set for NYC

Veterans and servicemembers are invited, Feb. 1, to New York City for a special hiring and career fair at the Department of Veterans Affairs New York Regional Office. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will welcome employers such as Wells Fargo, Verizon, Prudential and Time Warner Cable. The fair was coordinated in part by the office of Rep. Bob Turner, R-N.Y., and The American Legion, which helped recruit employers for the event who are ready to hire veterans.

The job fair is free of charge. Attendees are only asked to wear professional attire, bring plenty of updated résumés and be prepared to interview.

The Wounded Warrior Project, New York State Departments of Labor and Veteran Affairs, eBenefits and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will also be on hand to provide various career services to veterans and active-duty military in attendance.
