The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is looking for a few good veterans. As part of an effort to hire more veterans at the federal level, the OPM is conducting a special hiring event for military and former military personnel. Currently, a number of federal job openings have been reserved for them and will continue to be until Aug. 24. Visit FedsHireVets.gov for a full listing of openings.
The pool of jobs available includes positions with VA, OPM, and the Departments of Army, Treasury, Education and Transportation, along with other federal offices and outposts. The event offers work in fields like legal, computers, technical, human resources, administrative and technical, among many other professional areas.
Veterans interested in applying should visit the listings Web site. Full descriptions of positions, applications and any special instructions for application can be found at the site.

Dear Mr. Wittke: I unfortunately know of no such reference to hire a
veteran. Those positions here in the VA restricted to veterans with
preference are housekeeping aids.
