Convention band contest deadline is May 31

If your American Legion post's band or color guard wants to compete for trophies and glory at the national convention in Cincinnati this August, time is running out to apply.

Entries for the Band Contest at the 98th National Convention are due to National Headquarters by May 31. The contest (in Concert Band or Exhibition Concert Band classes) will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, at 1 p.m. in Grand Ballroom A, 3rd Floor, of the Duke Energy Convention Center.

Entries for the Color Guard Contest are due by July 22. This contest, which has four classes - Advancing & Retiring, Military, Military-Open Eligibility, and Open - will be held Friday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m. in Exhibit Hall A, 1st Floor, of the convention center.

Color Guard (in all four classes) and Concert Band entries, will all competing personnel, must march in the National Convention Parade on Sunday, Aug. 28.
