Troop and Family Support

When service separates families

The American Legion understands that those who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces are strongest when they know someone is taking care of their families and loved ones back home. Volunteer assistance, cash grants and comfort items for military personnel recovering in hospitals and transition units are just some of the ways the Legion pulls its duty on the home front.

FAMILY SUPPORT NETWORK

The Family Support Network connects families of servicemembers who are activated, deployed or away from home on extended orders, with posts in their local communities where they can get assistance with everything from lawn mowing and home repairs to child care or financial help.

OPERATION COMFORT WARRIORS

Operation Comfort Warriors is a program dedicated to meeting the needs of wounded, injured or ill military personnel by providing them with comfort items not usually supplied by the government during the recovery process.

TEMPORARY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Cash grants are available to help families of eligible servicemembers and veterans with children at home, to help maintain basic needs such as shelter, food, utilities or health expenses. Legion membership is not required, but the veteran or servicemember in the family must be eligible for Legion membership.
