 Ireland's National Day of Commemoration

Each year on the Sunday closest to 13th July, Ireland celebrates its National Day of Commemoration to honor all Irishmen and Irishwomen who paid the ultimate sacrifice serving not only Ireland but in the uniforms of other nations and the United Nations. The ceremony was presided over by Irish President Michael D. Higgins and attended by government ministers, military leaders, religious leaders of various faiths, veterans organizations from Ireland, Britain, the United States, France, Australia and others. All three American Legion posts in Ireland were proudly represented.
