Legion, Andrews AFB form relationship

Recently, American Legion Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Division Deputy Director Verna Jones and Sam Gilmore, deputy director of the National Security/Foreign Relations Division, met with Master Sgt. Erika Perrin, Director of the Family Readiness Group at Andrews Air Force Base, Iman Barrow, Community Readiness Assistant.

There is a significant backlog of servicemembers and veterans who wish to file a claim for compensation or an appeal, and others who require assistance with VA benefits. Currently there is only one representative who is stationed at Andrews on Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Using its professional and knowledgeable staff, The American Legion can provide a much-needed service to those veterans seeking assistance. Perrin and Barrow agreed that there is a need for a relationship between Andrews' Family Readiness Group and The American Legion. and the Legion has agreed to provide a service office or officers on site Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. starting in early June.
