Fredio Samples the author of Wings over Sakishima lives with his wife Brenda near Seattle Washington. He was born in Corbin KY in 1938. He joined the US Air Force in 1961 and served on active duty for 4 years.One of these years he served at Miyako Jima, a remote island located in the the Japanese controlled Ryukyu Islands. A dream and what he discovered while serving there is what inspired him to search for the island's military history and the part it played during the battle at Okinawa.
