The Men at the Wall
By: Jean Meyer
The men at the Wall aren't really there at all.
The names, the faces, the stories they told
The dreams they dreamed, all gone
Though their spirits remain.
Each one a heart ache with eyes closed
For each is a hero, though no one knows.
Each story unique but never told.
They band together at the Wall
These soldiers, brothers one and all.
With helmets and rifles at their side
Watching, listening as visitors go by.
They hear them whisper or shed a tear
For the ones they loved are listed here.
The men at the Wall keep constant vigil
Over each and every individual.
Though their stories forever go untold,
These men were brave, strong, and bold.
The Men at the Wall,
They gave it all.

About the author:

I am married to a Marine Veteran who served in Vietnam and have been instrumental in helping him locate guys he served with... along with that I have been inspired to write poems about the war from drawing done by a fellow Marine who lost his leg in Vietnam. I feel if I can help just one Veteran or put a smile on their face then I have done what the Lord has led me to do.
