Country star Josh Turner to headline 7th Inning Stretch Festival before American Legion World Series

Country and gospel singer Josh Turner will headline the return of the 7th Inning Stretch Festival on Aug. 6 in Shelby, N.C., the weekend before the 95th American Legion World Series.

Lingering concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of last year’s festival. There was also no festival in 2020 as the ALWS was cancelled.

A native of South Carolina, Turner has had four No. 1 singles on the country charts: “Your Man,” “Would You Go With Me,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” and “All Over Me,” as well as three No. 1 albums with 2006’s “Your Man,” 2012’s “Punching Bag” and 2017’s “Deep South.” He has sold more than 8.5 million units and amassed more than 2.5 billion global streams.

The concert by Turner in uptown Shelby will be free to the public. The 8 p.m. concert will cap a day of activities including the Road to Hope Shelby 5K and the Little Miss American Legion World Series Pageant.

“After two years without the Festival because of COVID-19 concerns, we are excited to bring back the event that is our thank you to the community for its support of The American Legion World Series,” said American Legion World Series Chairman Eddie Holbrook. “We believe we have a lineup that will please every attendee from the youngest to the oldest and music that will brighten everyone’s day.”

The 95th American Legion World Series will take place Aug. 11-16 at Veterans Field at Keeter Stadium in Shelby, the permanent home of the ALWS.
