2022 Legion Baseball Regionals: Day 2 roundup

Rounding up the second day of the 2022 American Legion Baseball regionals, in which two-time defending ALWS champion Idaho Falls, Idaho, advanced to the winner’s bracket final in the Northwest Regional.

Also, in the Great Lakes Regional, it will be an all-Michigan winner’s bracket final, with host Midland against Gladwin County, after seven games were completed on Thursday due to Wednesday’s inclement weather.

And in the Central Plains Regional, it will be an all-Nebraska winner’s bracket final, with Omaha Creighton Prep against Millard South.

 

Region 1: Northeast

At Shrewsbury, Mass.

Game 5: Franklin (Mass.) Post 75 d. Concord (N.H.) Post 21, 8-3 (Concord eliminated): Starter Jacob Jette (6 innings, 4 strikeouts) got the pitching win and Jase Lyons (1 hit, 2 RBIs) led the Post 75 offense.

Game 6: Waterford (Ct.) Post 161 d. Hampden (Maine), 10-1 (Hampden eliminated): Anthony Jessuck threw a 7-hitter with six strikeouts and Preston Tabor (2 hits, triple, 3 RBIs) and Jackson Long (2 hits, double) led the Post 161 offense.

Game 7: Essex (Vt.) Post 91 d. Greece (N.Y.) Post 468, 1-0 (9 innings): Starter Andrew Goodrich struck out 11 in 7 1-3 innings before reliever Benjamin Deibler threw 2-3 innings for the win and Matthew Safer struck out two in one inning for a save for Essex. Post 91’s offense was led by Owen Pinaud (2 hits), Goodrich (2 hits) and Hazen Randall (winning run on passed ball in top 9th).

Game 8: Shrewsbury (Mass.) Post 397 d. Cumberland (R.I.) Post 14, 3-0: Ryan Walton threw a 3-hitter with seven strikeouts for Shrewsbury, whose offense was led by A.J. Hamm (2 hits, triple, 2 RBIs).

Post 471, 8-3 (Boyertown eliminated): Starter Isaac McCallister (6 1-3 innings) picked up the win and Caleb Nutter (3 hits, double), Tyler Perdue (3 hits, 2 RBIs), Tyson Burke (2 hits, 1 RBI), Isaiah Ramsey (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Jordan Mosley (2 hits, 1 RBI) and Kyler Dixon (2 hits, 2 RBIs) led the Post 94 offense.

Post 284, 9-7: Reliever Alex Simmons (2 2-3 innings) picked up the win for Camden, whose offense was led by Cobe Evans (3 hits, triple), Brent Gibbs (2 hits), Brandon Gibbs (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Max Branham (double, triple, 2 RBIs) and Justin Flemming (2 hits).

Game 8: Randolph County (N.C.) Post 45 d. Evans (Ga.) Post 192, 3-2 (8 innings): Tanner Marsh threw three innings of two-hit ball in relief to pick up the victory. Braylen Hayes’ double in the bottom of the eighth inning drove in Blake Marsh with the winning run.
