Pittsburgh job fair reaches 200 veterans

On May 10, the Allegheny County VA in Pittsburgh held a job fair for veterans and military members at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall. About 40 employers were present, and in attendance were around 200 veterans - four of whom were hired on the spot. The American Legion had a strong presence at the event and helped facilitate the veterans to the potential employers.

The Legion’s Pennsylvania department has a strong and well-established reputation for helping veterans who are homeless or in need of employment, establishing the Housing for Homeless Veterans Corporation in 1988. The corporation, chaired by Past National Commander Ron Conley, maintains six residence buildings in Pennsylvania that provide affordable housing to veterans who are experiencing financial turmoil. Since its founding, the corporation has been instrumental in moving Pennsylvania veterans into the workforce.
