A look at May's job fairs

Here’s a look at some of the career events scheduled in May for servicemembers, veterans and military spouses:

May 8: San Antonio Military Spouse Networking Reception.

  • 7-9 p.m., networking reception.

  • This event is free and is open to all military spouses (active duty, veteran, reserve, Guard, and/or Gold Star) as well as military spouse-ready employers and service organizations. Servicemembers and veterans are also welcome.

  • USAA Headquarters Bank Lobby, 10750 McDermott Freeway, San Antonio.

May 8-9: Fort Leonard Wood Career Summit.

Wednesday

  • 5-7 p.m., networking reception.

  • Pershing Community Center, 16593 Piney Hills Drive, Bldg. 4109, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Thursday

  • 8 a.m., registration.

  • 8:30 a.m., welcome and event kickoff.

  • 8:45 a.m., interactive panel discussion: perspectives on career planning.

  • 9:45 a.m., LinkedIn for veterans and military spouses.

  • 10:45 a.m., career skills panel discussion.

  • 12:15 p.m., lunch and learn.

  • 1-3 p.m., mock interviews, resume review and free LinkedIn profile photos.

  • 1:30-4:30 p.m., career fair.

  • This event is free and is open to active-duty servicemembers, Guard and Reserve, veterans, and military spouses.

  • Nutter Field House, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

May 9: Fort Leavenworth Military Spouse Networking Reception.

  • 5:30-7:30 p.m., networking reception.

  • This event is free and is open to all military spouses (active duty, veteran, reserve, Guard, and/or Gold Star) as well as military spouse-ready employers and service organizations. Servicemembers and veterans are also welcome.

  • JW Crancer’s, 530 Delaware St., Leavenworth, Kan.

May 14: Boston Hiring Expo with the Boston Red Sox.

  • 9:30 a.m., LinkedIn workshop.

  • Noon-2 p.m., hiring fair, mock interviews and resume review.

  • This event is free and is open to active-duty servicemembers, Guard and Reserve, veterans, and military spouses.

  • All registered veteran and military spouse job seekers who attend the hiring expo are eligible to receive up to two free tickets to attend the evening's game between the Boston Red Sox and the Colorado Rockies.

  • Fenway Park, 4 Yawkey Way, Boston.

May 14: Holloman Air Force Base Career Summit.

  • 8 a.m., registration.

  • 8:30 a.m., welcome and event kickoff.

  • 8:40 a.m., Employment 2019 — Realities, Challenges and Opportunities.

  • 9:40 a.m., interactive panel discussion: perspectives on career planning.

  • 10:40 a.m., LinkedIn for veterans and military spouses.

May 21: Herndon Job Fair.

  • 2-6 p.m., job fair.

  • Cyber, IT, intelligence, tech professionals, security, public trust clearances are invited.

  • Security University, 510 Spring St., Herndon, Va.

May 23: Fort Belvoir-Springfield Job Fair.

  • 10 a.m.-noon, reserved for candidates who have active security clearance/military & veterans (active, retired, reservists, National Guard, wounded warriors-discharged & caregivers and family members).

  • Noon-2 p.m., open to all job seekers.

May 29-30: Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Career Summit.
