To Strengthen a Nation 11: The American Legion Family

“To Strengthen a Nation: The American Legion Story” continues with Episode 11, showing how a veterans organization formed in 1919 became an American Legion Family over the last century.

Legionnaires Jeric Wilhelmsen and Lorna Duyn travel back in time to chronicle the origin and growth of the American Legion Auxiliary, which was authorized in 1919 and flourished across the nation in its first year and in the decades that followed. Through historical images, the hosts share the impact of the red poppy distribution program and its rise, the emergence of Sons of The American Legion and the group that ties the entire family together – American Legion Riders.
