The American Legion Child Welfare Foundation (CWF) awarded 17 grants for a record total of $797,251 in 2023. It pushed the total amount awarded to over $20 million since CWF’s inception in 1954.
Grants are awarded to youth-serving nonprofits to support programs, activities and research that contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual welfare of children and youth. Grants are only given to entities that help U.S. children in a large geographic area; they are not awarded for day-to-day or special operating expenses.
Grant guidelines, application and donation information is available at cwf-inc.org.
The Sons of The American Legion are the single largest contributor to CWF, donating over $9.5 million since 1988.
