Blood drive scheduled for convention

The American Legion will host a Red Cross blood drive during the 104th National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. The drive will be conducted on Friday, Aug. 25, and Monday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, in Hall B of the Charlotte Convention Center. Hall B is serving as the exhibit hall for the Legion convention.

Attendees can either donate a traditional pint of “whole blood,” or make a “Power Red” donation; according to the Red Cross website, the latter “collects the red cells but returns most of the plasma and platelets to the donor. These donors must meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A Neg, B Neg or O blood.”
