Feb. 1: submissions due for National Law Enforcement Officer and Firefighter of the Year awards

The American Legion awards its National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award to a law enforcement officer who has exceeded the duty requirements expected of his or her position and has demonstrated a distinct pattern of community service coupled with professional achievement. The National Firefighter of the Year Award is awarded to a firefighter who has exceeded the requirements expected of his or her position and has shown a distinct pattern of community service and professional achievement. 

Applications must be submitted to National Headquarters by Feb. 1.

The awards are presented annually at the Legion's national convention where the recipients receive an all-expense paid trip.
