100% Americanism Award
This nomination form aims to recognize a member of the national Americanism Commission, its committees or the Americanism Council who has displayed exceptional devotion to the principles of 100% Americanism.
Criteria and nomination process for The American Legion’s premier award for Legionnaires, Sons of The American Legion members or American Legion Auxiliary members who are actively involved in Scouting in their communities.
Youth Scholarships
The American Legion offers a variety of scholarships, many of which require application or nomination, and this site provides a link for recipients to claim funds.
American Legion Legacy Scholarship: Learn more about the Legacy Scholarship, awarded to the children of U.S. military personnel who lost their lives on active duty since 9/11 and veterans with a Department of Veterans Affairs service-connected disability rating of 50% and greater.
Grants
Temporary Financial Assistance
The American Legion Temporary Financial Assistance program has awarded cash grants to minor children of current active duty or American Legion members. These grants help families in need meet the cost of shelter, food, utilities and health expenses, thereby keeping the child or children in a more stable environment.
National Emergency Fund
Grants from the National Emergency Fund (NEF) are available — up to $3,000 to Legionnaires and SAL members displaced due to damages to their primary residence from declared natural disasters, and up to $10,000 for Legion posts that have been damaged by a natural disaster and whose programs and activities within the community have been impacted.
Membership
Child Welfare Banner Request
American Legion posts, Legion Riders chapters, Auxiliary units, Sons of The American Legion squadrons and Eight & Forty salons are eligible for the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation (CWF) 100% per capita banner for the 2022-23 membership year. To qualify for the banner, a post, unit, squadron or salon must donate at least $1 per member based upon respective official membership total for the membership year.
