TALARC special event Aug. 12

On Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT, Mark Halabuda, W2UIS, American Legion Post 1034, Wallkill, N.Y., will be operating an American Legion Amateur Radio special event station from USS Slater, which is docked at the port of Albany.
He will be operating using D-Star equipment to contact amateur radio operators and other special event stations around the world.
The Saratoga County RACES Association has given permission to use the WA2UMX D-Star repeater located in New Salem as one way to link to D-Star reflectors. Primary reflector will be REF001C, London, England, but other reflectors around the world will also be used.
American Legion members as well as the general public are invited to attend, make two-way radio contacts with “Hams World Wide,” and learn about D-Star (Digital Voice) and amateur radio.
