April 2, 2014

I would like to announce that K2BSA/5 will be on the air from the National Scouting Museum in Irving, Texas, on Saturday, April 12 as we run another Radio Merit Badge workshop. Please look for us on the Scout SSB Phone frequencies, probably 20 but maybe 15 or 10 Meters depending on propagation. While we will have an HF and VHF/UHF station set up from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Central Daylight Time (1500-2130Z), the prime time for the “Requirement 9 Scout contacts will be from 1:00-2:15 p.m. CDT (1800-1915Z,) and from 3:15-4:30 p.m. (2015-2130Z). We also may put a call out on 20 Meters Scout Frequency sometime around 11:30 CDT (1630Z) as a pump primer for the Scouts.
Besides HF, we will also be using the Irving Amateur Radio Club 146.72 (110.9) Irving Amateur Radio Club and the 146.88 (110.9) repeaters. Both these repeaters have Echolink nodes attached. WA5CKF-R is node 634042 and W5FC-R is node 37247. I may also give a call via the IRLP RadioScouting Topic Channel at Reflector 9091.
Please try to join us and provide some quality QSOs to the Scouts. Try to engage them in questions that will get them talking. First-time microphone users sometimes need just a bit of nudging to get them talking, as you well know.
We may not be able to accurately log each contact, but if you want a QSL card, you can QSL me direct at my address below.
Thanks in advance for your participation.
