TALARC/K9TAL EchoLink Conference Net Report for Oct. 10, 2020

Net Control Station W9WMJ conducted the monthly net on *FMCA-ARC* EchoLink Conference Node on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020. The net was opened at 1200 ET [1600Z] and closed at 1257 ET [1657Z]. Ten check-ins participated in today’s operations, including the Net Control Station.

Announcements were read that included:
1) Boy Scouts of America’s Jamboree-On-The-Air, JOTA, the largest Scouting event in the world, is set for Oct. 16-18. The event uses amateur radio to link Scouts and hams around the world in thousands of communities.
2) Veterans Day Special Event is set for Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, from 1300 EST to 1900 EST.

Discussion was had by several on the net.
Ken KB3IIE announced to the net that Maryland Post 275 has established a new digital net that has its first net ops set for Saturday, Oct. 24, commencing at 1200 EDT. They will be on the WIRES-X “Post 275 Room.” The DTMF is 21433.
Terry NØVE, commander of his newly chartered post, talked about efforts to find other hams in his area. It was suggested that he check out the listing of posts on the TALARC website to determine clubs closest to him and seek their assistance in locating other hams and get help in establish a new TALARC club within his post.
John K8DHH remarked that due to the COVID-19 situation he is working from home and has found time to dust off an old oscillator and brush up on his CW work. Now that’s time well spent.
Ken KB3IIE indicated that Maryland Post 275 could assist the national Veterans Day event via WIRES-X. A determination by the TALARC board is pending.
