Nominate your hero for the Red Bandanna Hero Award

American Heroes Channel and the Welles Remy Crowther Charitable Trust is honoring a brave, selfless hero who exemplifies the American spirit with their second annual Red Bandanna Hero Award.

The award pays tribute to Welles Remy Crowther’s heroic acts on 9-11. Crowther, a Boston College graduate who was known for wearing a red bandanna under his helmet during his teams lacrosse games, saved as many as 12 people during the attacks on the World Trade Centers.

The winner of the 2016 Red Bandanna Hero Award will receive a $10,000 donation to the charitable organization of their choice, as well as a trip for two to attend a special Red Bandanna Football game at Boston College on Oct. 7. AHC also will create a “Hero Moment” vignette about the award winner, which will air on the network and online at www.ahctv.com.

Nominates for the 2016 Red Bandanna Hero Award are being accepted at www.ahctv.com/redbandanna now through July 16.

Last year’s award winner was Jake LaFerriere, a Minneapolis firefighter and founder of Firefighters for Healing. LaFerriere’s inspiration for the nonprofit organization came from his stay at a hospital after receiving third and fourth-degree burns from a backdraft house explosion in July 2010. He met several children in the burn unit who also were receiving treatment, and he became inspired by their resilience at such a young age. AHC and Welles Remy Crowther Charitable Trust have partnered this year with The Huffington Post to help in their search for the award winner. The Huffington Post will serve as the online home for the Red Bandanna Hero Award through hero profiles, editorial features and video leading up to the October awards ceremony.
