The country music award-winning duo, Montgomery Gentry, will kick off the 2012 American Legion Baseball World Series with a live performance.
The American Legion Baseball World Series (ALWS) Executive Committee in Shelby, N.C., is once again bringing the "wow" factor to the upcoming World Series, Aug. 17-21. Last year, Grammy winner Ronnie Dunn kicked off the Series with a live performance, and now the committee has announced this year’s award-winning country music artist entertainer — Montgomery Gentry.
"With these country artists, we expect to draw a large, enthusiastic audience from a broad geographical area," said Eddie Holbrook, co-chairman of the ALWS Executive Committee.
Dunn’s sold-out performance last year took place at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in front of nearly 6,500 fans. However, Holbrook and ALWS co-chairman Jim Horn predict Montgomery Gentry’s performance will draw an even larger crowd of up to 10,000 fans.
For the past 13 years, Montgomery Gentry has released six studio albums and produced more than 20 chart singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs. And as strong supporters of the military, the duo has entertained troops serving in Iraq multiple times and released "What It Takes" for the soundtrack to the recent war action film, "Act of Valor."
The Montgomery Gentry concert will take place Aug. 16 at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Stay tuned to www.legion.org for further details regarding ticket sales, prices and where to purchase.
