ALB Regionals Day 1: 64 teams, 1 goal

The 2025 American Legion Baseball regionals began Wednesday at eight sites nationwide.

Defending American Legion World Series champion Troy (Ala.) Post 70 and last year’s runner-up, Midland (Mich.) Post 165, each took opening round victories as regional playoffs began on Wednesday at eight sites in the 64-team nationwide tournament.

Here are Wednesday’s results and Thursday’s pairings (all times local, schedule subject to change):

Region 1 (Northeast Region)

At Shrewsbury, Mass.

Wednesday’s results

Game 1: Greece (N.Y.) Post 468 d. Cumberland (R.I.) Post 14, 5-1Nathan Power (2-hitter, 8 strikeouts), Tyler Cannon (3 hits, double) and Nate Brinza (1 hit, 3 RBIs) led Greece and Ben Jahnz (RBI single) led Cumberland.

Game 2: St. Johnsbury (Vt.) Post 58 d. Farmington (Maine) Post 28, 14-1 (5 innings)Starter and winner Parker Tate (2 innings, 4 strikeouts) and relievers Adrian Mitchell (1 inning), Wil Eaton (1 inning, 1 strikeout) and Nate Cushing (1 inning, 1 strikeout) combined on a 3-hitter for St. Johnsburg, whose offense was led by Carson Finn (2 hits), Rex Hauser (2 triples, 1 RBI), Averill Parker (2 home runs, 4 RBIs) and Declan Kendall (2 hits).

Game 3: Bedford (N.H.) Post 54 d. Fall River (Mass.) Post 464, 9-3Isaac Crivec (3 hits, triple), Carter Crowley (2 hits, 1 RBI), Jake Oster (2 hits, 1 RBI) and Noah Durham (3-run home run) led Bedford. 

Game 4: Waterford (Conn.) Post 161 d. Shrewsbury (Mass.) Post 397, 8-5Starter and winner Matthew Shampine (6 2/3 innings, 6 strikeouts and double, triple, 1 RBI as batter), Donte Valentine (3 hits, 2 RBIs), Martin Light (2 hits, double, 2 RBIs) and Colby Sheehan (2 hits, 1 RBI) led Waterford.

Game 2: New Castle (Del.) Post 30 d. Chesapeake (Va.) Post 280, 4-1John Grybowski (4-hitter, 3 strikeouts), Samuel Diaz (2 hits, double, 1 RBI) and Shawn Roy (2 hits) led New Castle.

Game 3: Cecil County (Md.) Post 194 d. Bristol (Pa.) Post 382, 3-2Starter and winner Wyatt McDowell (6 1/3 innings, 7 strikeouts) hit a 2-run triple in the bottom of the 6th for the game-winner for Cecil County.

Game 4: Hazleton (Pa.) Post 76 d. Ridge (Md.) Post 255, 4-0Starter and winner Jordan Castrine (5 1/3 innings, 7 strikeouts), Aiden Timmons (1 1/3 innings, 2 strikeouts) and Gavin Perkosky (1/3 inning, 1 strikeout) combined on a 4-hitter for Hazleton.

Game 2: Jacksonville (Fla.) Post 316 d. Owensboro (Ky.) Post 9, 10-0 (5 innings)Starter Skyler Kokoszka (3 innings, 2 strikeouts) and reliever and winner Nate Burnsed (2 innings, 1 strikeout) combined on a 1-hitter for Jacksonville, whose offense was led by Tanner Jones (3 hits, 2 doubles). 

Game 3: Asheville (N.C.) Post 70 d. Florence (S.C.) Post 1, 10-6Kolt Nelson (2 hits, double, 3 RBIs) had a 2-run RBI single to highlight a 5-run top of the 7th inning as Asheville overcame a 6-5 deficit for the win.

Game 4: Troy (Ala.) Post 70 d. Randolph County (N.C.) Post 45, 11-0 (6 innings)Starter and winner Drew Colon (5 innings, 10 strikeouts) and reliever Porter Dykes (1 inning, 1 strikeout) combined on a 3-hitter for Troy, whose offense was led by Wells Ganey (3 hits, triple, 3 RBIs) and Tabor Offord (2 hits, double, 1 RBI).

Game 3: Moberly (Mo.) Post 6 d. Ada (Okla.), 10-4tarter and winner Cooper Scott Harvey (6 innings, 4 strikeouts and 2 hits, double, 4 RBIs) led Moberly on the mound and at the plate. Carson Cade Fletcher (2 hits), Nolan Samuel (2 hits, 1 RBI) and Jackson Engel (2 hits, 1 RBI) also had big offensive games for Moberly.

Game 4: Washington (Mo.) Post 218 d. Pittsburg (Kan.) Post 64, 7-5 (8 innings)Benjamin Nieder's 2-run RBI single in the top of the 8th broke a 5-all tie. Drew Eckhoff (2 hits, double, home runs, 3 RBIs), Josh Koirtyohann (2 hits, 1 RBI) and Nieder (2 hits, 2 RBIs) led the Washington offense.
