A record four teams recover from opening-round losses to advance to the ALWS.
History was set twice on Sunday as the eight-team American Legion World Series field was set following regional championship games.
An unprecedented four teams came back to win their respective regionals on Sunday after losing their first regional contest on Wednesday.
The previous record of three had been set in 1962 and repeated in 1980, 2008, 2014 and last year since the American Legion began using the regional concept to determine its eight-team ALWS field in 1960.
Chesapeake (Va.) Post 280, Rockport (Ind.) Post 245, Portland (Ore.) Post 158 and League City (Tex.) Post 554 make up the quartet of teams that overcame opening round defeats.
Additionally, League City's regional title makes Post 554 the second post to reach the ALWS four straight seasons. Previously, only Brooklawn (N.J.) Post 72 had done so when it advanced four straight seasons from 1998 to 2001 and five straight seasons from 2011 to 2015.
