ALB Regionals: Friday’s results

The field narrows entering the weekend, heading toward’s Sunday’s championship games.

Two of the last three American Legion World Series champions — 2023 winner League City (Tex.) Post 554 and defending champion Chesapeake (Va.) Post 280 — have won back-to-back games after losing their regional openers.

Here are Friday’s results and Saturday’s games (all times local, schedule subject to change).

Region 1 (Northeast)

Friday’s Results

Game 4: Cumberland (R.I.) Post 14 d. Franklin (Mass.) Post 75, 3-1; Franklin eliminated. Pat Munger (1-hitter, 6 strikeouts), Josh Lyon (3 hits, double, 2 RBIs) and Jake Lonardo (2 hits) led Cumberland.

Game 5: Essex Junction (Vt.) Post 91 d. Sanford (Maine) Post 19, 10-1; Sanford eliminated. Nico Calano (3-hitter, 4 strikeouts), Christopher Morgan (3 hits, double, 3 RBIs), Alec Davis (3 hits, 2 RBIs) and Garret Carter (2 hits, double, 1 RBI) led Essex Junction.

Game 6: Bedford (N.H.) Post 54 d. Shrewsbury (Mass.) Post 397, 16-6 (6 innings). Reliever and winner Noah Durham (2 innings, 3 strikeouts), Jack Hinton (4 hits, double, 3 RBIs) and Brayden Hickman (2 hits, 1 RBI) led Bedford.

Game 5: Dover (Del.) Post 2 d. Waterford (Conn.) Post 161,16-2 (5 innings); Waterford eliminated. Colby Rall (4-hitter, 2 strikeouts as pitcher, 2 doubles, 1 RBI as batter), Kole Turner (2 hits, 4 RBIs) and Carter Bean (2 hits, double, 1 RBI) led Dover.

Game 6: Whitehouse (N.J.) Post 284 d. Kingston/Saugerties (N.Y.) Posts 150/72, 11-0. Jackson Trego (2-hitter, 7 strikeouts), Mike Novotny (3 hits, 1 RBI), Reid Bazydlo (3 hits, double, triple, 2 RBIs), John Portman (2 hits, 1 RBI) and Aidan Walsh (2 hits, 1 RBI) led Whitehouse.

Game 11: Garner (N.C.) Post 232 d. Florence (S.C.) Post 1, 14-10. Cash Grimsley (3 hits, home run, 3 RBIs), Caleb Johnson (3 hits, 1 RBI) and Dylan Palmer (3 hits, home run, 2 RBIs) led Garner, which overcame an early 9-5 deficit.

Game 5: Tupelo (Miss) Post 49 d. Ada (Okla.) Braves, 7-1; Ada eliminated. Reliever and winner Jax Coker (5 innings, 5 strikeouts), Brody Thompson (2 hits, double) and Kadin Bennett (2 hits, double, 2 RBIs) led Tupelo and Reese Littlefield (3 hits, double, 1 RBI) led Ada.

Game 10: Reno (Nev.) Knights d. Fort Collins (Colo.), 6-5; Fort Collins eliminated. Colin Sala (2 2/3 innings, 2 strikeouts, save as pitcher, RBI single as batter) led Reno.

Game 11: Fairfield (Calif.) Expos d. Clovis (Calif.) Post 147, 5-1. Starter and winner Dylan Eddings (6 1/3 innings, 8 strikeouts) led Clovis, whose offense scored all five of its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning led by Jack Armstrong (2-run single) and Sage Nelson (2-run triple) to snap a scoreless tie.
