Tupelo (Miss.) Post 49

Stripes Division winner; Mid-South Regional champion

Tupelo (27-5-1) was the first team to earn a semifinal berth, after Saturday’s win over Lincoln (Neb.). They also joined fellow division winners Midland (Mich.) in finishing pool play undefeated.

The 49ers have been dangerous on offense, with nine home runs in national tournament play.

Midland (Mich.) Berryhill Post 165

Stars Division winner; Great Lakes Regional champion

After a regional run in which they outscored the opposition 37-12, and an 11-2 win in their ALWS opener, Midland (32-5) found interesting ways to win its final two pool play games in Shelby.

Despite just one hit — a bunt at that — Post 165 edged Jacksonville (Fla.) Post 316 to all but clinch at least a semifinal spot. In the finale against Portland, Aryan Punjabi drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in Jayden Mieske for the winning score.

Lincoln (Neb.) Carpet Land Post 500

Stripes Division runner-up; Central Plains Regional champion

Lincoln (53-7) has a knack for winning multiple games by the same score in the national postseason. The Rugs, as they’re called because of their sponsor, won back-to-back 5-1 games over Rapid City (S.D.) Post 22 on the final day of the Central Plains Regional. And both their wins so far in Shelby have come by a 4-2 score.

While Lincoln isn’t going to hit a lot of balls out of the park, with just three home runs total in the regional and ALWS, they’re certainly capable of scoring runs (6.6 runs per game). And their pitching is certainly capable of striking out the competition.
