Lundqvist, Palou and the rest of the series will compete in Sunday’s Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.
After a busy week in Indianapolis, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES makes the short trip north to Michigan for this weekend’s Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.
Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) heads to the Detroit Grand Prix having recorded two top-five finishes in last weekend’s Indianapolis 500. Rookie Linus Lundqvist will again be behind the wheel of the No. 8 American Legion Honda featuring Be the One branding after finishing 28th in the 500. Lundqvist had been running as 24th before making contact with the outside wall in Turn 1 on the 500’s 28th lap, ending his day.
Alex Palou, driving the No. 10 DHL Honda that features American Legion branding, is the defending Detroit Grand Prix winner – a victory that kicked off three in a row for the eventual INDYCAR SERIES champ. Palou battled from 14th to a fifth-place finish in the Indy 500 and sits atop the points race again, 20 ahead of CGR teammate Scott Dixon.
It’s a revamped event this year in Detroit, including the street course for the 100-lap race. The Chevrolet Grand Prix features three full days of activities and celebration on some of Detroit’s most popular and active downtown areas, including racing on a new 1.645-mile, nine-turn street circuit along Jefferson Avenue, Bates Street, Atwater Street, St. Antoine, Franklin Street and Rivard.
