The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, one of the nation's leading suicide prevention organizations, is hosting a national presentation of Talk Saves Lives: Supporting Our Veterans on Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. ET. The training aligns with The American Legion’s Be the One mission which aims to bring awareness to and prevent veteran suicide through training, community events and available resources.
Talk Saves Lives: Supporting Our Veterans is a free, one-hour presentation, available in-person or virtually, where participants will:
Learn the impact of suicide on the veteran population
Identify contributors to veteran suicide and protective factors
Learn how to recognize suicide warning signs in veterans
Know how to start a conversation about suicide with a veteran who may be in distress
Understand ways to seek and offer support and resources for veterans while respecting a veteran’s autonomy
