American Legion to host job fairs, workshops

The American Legion’s Economic Division will host a job fair for veterans, a homeless veterans workshop and a small business development workshop in late February and early March in Washington.

The American Legion’s Economic Division will host a job fair for veterans, a homeless veterans workshop and a small business development workshop in late February and early March during the Washington Conference.The job fair will convene Feb. 25, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Renaissance Hotel. Veterans can meet with representatives from corporations interested in hiring people with military skills and backgrounds. RecruitMilitary is handling registration for the job fair.  The homeless veterans workshop will be held at the Renaissance Hotel on Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Legionnaires will discuss the various ways they are helping homeless veterans and their families. The event will provide homeless veterans with resources and information regarding housing, physical and mental health treatment, and job assessment and placement. Federal officials and organizations will be on hand to discuss their programs and offer direct assistance.The small business development workshop will be on March 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., also at the Renaissance. Workshop leaders will explain how to develop a comprehensive business plan, covering topics from start-up companies to doing work for the federal government. The job fair is in the Renaissance Ballroom, homeless veterans workshop in Meeting Room 4, and the small business development workshop in Congressional B.
