Event provides insights into New York's Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act, recently signed into law.
Veteran business owners and entrepreneurs are invited to attend a free workshop and seminar focused on federal and state contracting opportunities for veteran businesses in New York City on May 13 at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
The event, which runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m., will focus on taking advantage of New York's Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act, recently signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The act establishes a goal that 6 percent of all New York State contracts be awarded to service-disabled veteran-owned businesses. The topic of federal contracting for veteran business owners will also be addressed.
Several entities will host the event, including the City University of New York, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Vets GSA and Drexel Hamilton. Legion Business Task Force member Scott Davidson is also an event organizer.
Local resources for veteran business owners will also be available before and after the event. And numerous government officials and representatives from veterans service organizations - including The American Legion - will be on hand to answer questions and provide insights into issues that affect veteran businesses.
To register for the free event, vist the event's online registration page.
