Grant applications for the American Legion Child Well-being Foundation are open; deadline is July 15.
More than $512,800 was donated for the American Legion Child Well-being Foundation (CWF) during the 2025-2026 program year to help youth-serving nonprofits provide research, programs and activities that benefit children and their families. Of the donations, the Sons of The American Legion remains the highest contributor, with $321,104.
These donations support nonprofits that care for children with cancer and autism, cover transportation cost for critically ill children seeking medical treatment outside their immediate area, cover expenses related to an organ transplant, provide horseback therapy, teach visually impaired children to read, help military children attend camp with their peers, and much more.

Each year, Legion posts, Legion Riders Chapters, Auxiliary units, Sons of The American Legion squadrons, and Eight & Forty Salons are eligible for the CWF 100% per capita banner based on donations. To qualify, a post, chapter, unit, squadron or salon must donate at least $1 per member based upon respective official membership total for the current membership year. For the 2025-2026, 335 entities received a CWF 100% per capita banner.
The 2026-2027 banner is available online under Youth & Family Support.
