USA 250 Challenge participants can now receive special awards for fundraising while the proceeds benefit disabled veterans, military families and others who need our help.
We’ve just passed the midway point of The American Legion’s USA 250 Challenge, as we count down toward celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday.
Right now much of the country is immersed in winter weather, limiting the outdoor activities we can do to fulfill our goals for the challenge. However, that does not mean that all participation or innovation must hibernate.
The American Legion is unveiling a special new way to participate that benefits disabled veterans, military families and others who need our help through our Veterans & Children Foundation (VCF).
Participants in the USA 250 Challenge can now earn special commemorative items by achieving various fundraising tiers. Even better is how these donations benefit those in need. These donations support our accredited American Legion service officers, who in turn, provide free claims assistance to all veterans. Additionally, the funds provide financial relief to military families who are struggling.
The American Legion has simplified how participants can generate donations for the challenge.
We have updated the platform used to register and track miles with a powerful peer-to-peer fundraising tool so that fundraisers can hit one, two or all three tier levels and receive rewards.
The three fundraising tiers with incentives:
• For $250 in donations raised, participants receive a USA 250 Challenge hat pin.
• For $500 in donations raised, participants receive a USA 250 Challenge coin and a personalized certificate of appreciation.
• For $2,500 in donations raised, participants receive a personalized plaque signed by me.
Please note that it may take up to six weeks for delivery once a tier level has been reached.
Of course, fundraisers need donors to succeed. That’s why we are also rewarding donors for their contributions.
Each person or group (like a post or Riders chapter) that donates $250 or more, will receive a different commemorative challenge coin and a special poster.

Please join me during this special year in our nation’s history by celebrating America while engaging in healthy activities, supporting mental wellness and serving our great nation. For now, I’m headed back to the treadmill to get in some more miles for my challenge.
