Organization's Convention and Meetings Division wins the Pinnacle Award for Best Overall Event at Meeting Professionals International Indiana Chapter banquet.

The American Legion’s Convention and Meetings Division won the Pinnacle Award for Best Overall Event at the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) Indiana Chapter annual banquet on April 24.

The award was given in recognition of The American Legion’s 100th national convention in Minneapolis last August. “It is most impressive that our Convention and Meetings team was awarded this prestigious honor for their planning and execution of the 2018 National Convention in Minneapolis among their industry peers,” said Mike Walton, Convention Commission chairman. Other honorees included division director Bridget Robinson, deputy director Andrea Watson, stage coordinator Reggie Mathis, administrator Ellen Miller and travel administrator Joyce Hamilton.

MPI is the largest meeting and event industry association worldwide. The Pinnacle Award honors planners or suppliers that have developed and delivered an event deemed to be more successful than others in the past year by displaying a model of excellence in planning and execution.

The two other finalists, out of 250 association members, were a MPI Headquarters June 2018 event in Indianapolis called World Education Congress (WEC) and The Moreland Group, an Indianapolis full-service meeting and event planning company.

The WEC nomination related to an international event comprised of 2,200 meeting industry professionals from around the globe experiencing what attendees said was the best-ever WEC event. The Moreland Group provides high-level, detailed experiences in and around the state of Indiana and destinations.
