Exhibit hall opens; Color Guard Contests begin at 1:30 rather than 4.
Friday, Aug. 22, is the first day of activities at the 106th American Legion National Convention in Tampa, Fla. Among the highlights:
The annual community outreach project, a cemetery cleanup in cooperation with USS Tampa Post 5;
The opening of the Exhibit Hall and Emblem Sales store, the former featuring a new dedicated gaming lounge courtesy of American Legion Gaming and sponsored by Consumer Cellular;
Walk-in eye screenings, claims clinic, and information sessions in the Exhibit Hall;
and the Color Guard Contests at 1:30 p.m. in the Tampa Convention Center, with 20 JROTC units competing and streamed live on legion.org.
