Veterans Health Hackathon held in conjunction with national convention

The second annual event to address veteran healthcare challenges will be held in Tampa, Fla., during the Legion’s 106th national convention. 

The Tampa VA Medical Center is hosting the second annual Veterans Health Hackathon in collaboration with The American Legion, MIT Hacking Medicine, Microsoft and VHA Innovation Ecosystem to identify, develop and support frontline-driven AI solutions that address challenges facing veteran healthcare.

The event will be held in conjunction with The American Legion’s 106th National Convention in Tampa, Fla., from Aug. 22-24 at the Tampa Marriott Water Street, 505 Water St.

This year’s Hackathon will have three tracks that focus on problem solving key challenges:

1. Timely access to care 

2. Optimizing enterprise-wide costs and operational efficiency

3. Improving community care coordination 

During the event, mentors, subject matter experts and veterans guide interdisciplinary teams to address real-world problems through veteran-centered innovation. Independent judges will evaluate each team’s concept, and winners will advance advancing to additional stages for further refining and testing.

Participation is open to anyone who wants to positively impact veteran healthcare veterans, clinicians, scientists, designers, entrepreneurs, researchers, administrators, business professionals, engineers, programmers and artists. To apply, visit here.
