National Commander’s Banquet in Tampa offers option of Buffett-style shirt, purchased via Emblem Sales.
This year, American Legion National Commander Jim LaCoursiere Jr. is bringing a relaxed, island-inspired vibe to the National Commander’s Banquet at the 106th National Convention (6:30 p.m. Aug. 26, Tampa Convention Center Ballroom).
The sun-soaked setting and high-energy sounds of the Landsharks Band offer the perfect backdrop for a Jimmy Buffett-style celebration. Hawaiian shirts and laid-back fun will be the order of the evening. Attendees are strongly encouraged to ditch formalwear in favor of island attire, but for a purpose.
To participate in the relaxed dress code, attendees are asked to purchase an official Buffett-style shirt for $46.99 via legion.org/convention or Emblem Sales (available in male and female styles), or to make a donation to the Veterans & Children Foundation (VCF). The casual code extends to the head and sub-head tables as well, signaling a shared commitment to the spirit and cause.
The deadline for ordering a shirt is July 22. They will be available for pickup in the Exhibit Hall, located in West Hall of the convention center; further information will be communicated to purchasers. The banquet is currently sold out; to be put on the waiting list, email Ellen Miller at emiller@legion.org.
