App edition released prior to 106th National Convention sees record number of new downloads, total installations.
For the last couple of years, the printed program book for the American Legion national convention has largely served as a souvenir – welcomes, photo essays, honorees and distinguished guests now make up the majority of the content. More and more convention information – especially meeting and floor schedules, which can change well after the program goes to press – has moved to the mobile app developed by American Legion National Headquarters.
The app edition released prior to the 106th National Convention in Tampa, Fla., in August saw a record number of new downloads (more than 2,150) and total installations: the number swelled throughout the convention from nearly 6,700 before it started to more than 8,400 by the end. The number of push notifications – reminders, breaking news, links to the national convention survey and more – grew substantially too, to more than 35. (But users only see push notifications if they opt in to receive them when they download the app.)
The national convention app will be updated and re-released next summer, prior to the 107th National Convention in Louisville, Ky. All of the Legion’s mobile apps can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play here, including:

Be The One Suicide Prevention Mobile App
