Legion supports veterans' children, wounded warriors.

National Commander's Project. In 2016, The American Legion’s Temporary Financial Assistance (TFA) awarded $830,151 in cash grants, benefitting 600 veterans and 1,396 children. The grants help eligible veterans, with minor children, in financial need meet the cost of shelter, utilities, food, clothing and medical expenses. During his tenure as American Legion national commander, Charles E. Schmidt’s fundraising goal for TFA is $1 million. Operation Comfort Warriors. In 2016, The American Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors program provided 34 grants totaling $187,000. OCW provides wounded warriors with comfort items and assistance. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.legion.org/ocw.
