Child Welfare Foundation. In its 64th year, The American Legion’s Child Welfare Foundation awarded $766,761 to 24 nonprofits for 2019. These grants were announced during The American Legion’s annual Fall Meetings in October and will support youth-serving projects that seek to enhance the lives of children by addressing their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs. See the list of recipients online at  www.legion.org/cwf. Since the foundation made its first three grants in 1955, more than $15 million has been awarded to assist the needs of children.

Consolidated Post Report. The 2017-2018 American Legion Consolidated Post Report (CPR) has been tabulated, and the results posted on  www.legion.org/bythenumbers. Posts fill out the document to share the good that they do in their communities every year. The 2018-2019 CPR has been shipped to all departments and is available through  www.mylegion.org.

Centennial web page. A new digital media platform now live at  www.legion.org/centennial celebrates The American Legion’s legacy and vision in honor of the organization’s 100th anniversary. The “Legacy & Vision” site traces The American Legion’s history through a timeline of events dating back to the formative Paris Caucus in March 1919. The timeline, which is designed to continue growing long past 2019, contains historical images up to 1970, with more photos to be added in the coming weeks.
