The American Legion Junior 3-Position Air Rifle National Championships were held in Colorado; the 75th session of American Legion Boys Nation was in Washington, D.C.

Shooting Sports. The American Legion Junior 3-Position Air Rifle National Championships in Colorado Springs, Colo., was held July 22-24 inside an old Macy’s department store that was converted into a shooting range by USA Shooting. Out of the top 30 youth marksman from across the country who started on the firing line for The American Legion’s annual national tournament, 16 advanced to the championship finals – the top eight in both the precision and sporter cateogry. 
 
First place national champions were Natalie Perrin of Michigan for precision and Maya Cameron of South Carolina for sporter. Perrin and Cameron were each awarded a $5,000 scholarship sponsored by The American Legion and Sons of The American Legion.
 
Second place finishers were Katrina Demerle of Ohio for precision and Kayla Kalenza of South Carolina for sporter. Both received $1,000 scholarships awarded by The American Legion Auxiliary.  www.legion.org/shooting 
 
Boys Nation. Ryan Jung of Irvine, Calif., was elected president of the 75th anniversary session of American Legion Boys Nation. Cameron Cummings of Madison, Ala., was elected vice president. 
 
Cummings represented Michigan at Boys Nation this year. Several American Legion departments cancelled or delayed their Boys State programs this year because of COVID-19 which resulted in some delegates from Boys State programs randomly selected to represent other departments.
