Children & Youth reports due July 1.

Every American Legion post within the United States receives three complimentary issues of The American Legion Magazine every month. Post members are encouraged to use the free magazine copies as a recruiting tool by showing potential new members one of the many benefits of American Legion membership. Copies of the magazine can be left at the local VA hospital, doctor offices, etc.

The American Legion Department Children & Youth report is due to National Headquarters by July 1. The Department Children & Youth report provides enhanced, consolidated reporting on assistance provided to children and youth by levels within the organization other than posts (e.g., district, county, area and department) that are not captured through the Consolidated Post Report.

Access the Department Children & Youth report online at www.legion.org/documents/pdf/CY_Dept_Report_JULY.pdf.

The American Legion encourages department Children & Youth chairmen to have posts fill out the section pertaining to children and youth activities. This Department Children & Youth report is the responsibility of the chairman. Departments with 100 percent reporting will receive a 100 percent Reporting Citation Award.

Mail form to The American Legion, ATTN: Children & Youth, P.O. Box 1055, Indianapolis, IN  46206-1055. Or send by fax (317) 630-1369 or email americanism@legion.org.

The American Legion National Executive Committee met virtually in early May for Spring Meetings and passed 30 resolutions that are now available on the Digital Archive.

Among the issues covered were guidelines for the American Legion Riders national program; military sexual trauma claims training; and expanding broadband into rural areas.

Veterans United Home Loans has committed $2 million to support The American Legion’s “Race to End Veteran Suicide.” The organization will use the funds to expand programs and opportunities for Legionnaires to obtain peer support training and distribute important mental health and wellness tools and resources through The American Legion infrastructure.
