The Veterans Yoga Project is hosting a live streamed yoga class April 29 at 2 p.m. EDT for posts, Legion Family and community members to join and participate in for free.
In support of American Legion Family Day on Saturday, April 29, the Legion has partnered with Veterans Yoga Project to host a virtual yoga class for posts, Legion Family and community members to participate in.
Be a part of this free yoga class on American Legion Family Day! The class will be live streamed at 2 p.m. EDT through The American Legion YouTube channel and through the Veterans Yoga Project YouTube channel. Register here.
The yoga class will include opening and closing remarks, a 30-minute chair yoga session, and a question-and-answer session. This is a gentle yoga class that allows students to practice yoga while seated in a chair or using the chair for support while standing. The 45-minute class will include breath work, gentle movements and stretches, and a short meditation. Everyone is welcome, even if you’ve never tried yoga before. Please have a solid, armless chair in a stable location and enough space to reach your arms out to your sides.
The National Executive Committee passed Resolution No. 7, American Legion Family Day at its Fall Meeting in October 2022. The resolution established an American Legion Family Day to be observed annually on the last Saturday of April. For Legion Family Day, posts are encouraged to open their doors to members of their community for the day to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Legionnaires, Sons of The American Legion members, Legion Riders and American Legion Auxiliary. American Legion Family Day also is an opportunity to bring community awareness to the organization’s “Be the One” initiative to reduce the rate of veteran suicide.
The coordinated virtual yoga class with Veterans Yoga Project was made possible through the collaborative efforts of The American Legion, Sons of The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary. The Veterans Yoga Project is a nonprofit that offers free in-person and virtual yoga classes nationwide for veterans, military families and communities to support recovery and resilience.
