Wellcare is honored to support the American Legion Riders on their annual Legacy Run that kicked off Aug. 17 in South Boston, Va., at Post 8 and will conclude in Tampa, Fla., Aug. 21. The 815-mile journey raises awareness and funds for the Veteran’s and Children Foundation (VCF), continuing a powerful tradition of honoring those who serve.
The ride travels through the scenic American South and the vibrant Eastern Seaboard. Riders will pass historic Fort Bragg in North Carolina and take in the coastal beauty of Wilmington, N.C., stopping at the USS North Carolina Battleship, and the National POW/MIA Memorial & Museum in Jacksonville, Fla., before riding to the 106th National Convention in Tampa.
As part of our multi-year partnership, Wellcare will be onsite at The American Legion national convention. Visit our fully staffed booth on opening day, Aug. 22, in the exhibit hall at the Tampa Convention Center to learn more about our exclusive Medicare partnership. Wellcare proudly connects veterans aged 65+, their spouses, and the broader military community to Medicare Advantage plans designed to complement Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare benefits. Together with The American Legion, we host in-person and virtual events at Legion posts nationwide to educate and empower veteran families.
Wellcare also supports The American Legion’s Be the One mission, a movement to destigmatize mental health conversations, connect veterans with life-saving resources, and combat the alarming rate of veteran suicide. With suicide rates among veterans over 50% higher than non-veteran adults, this mission is urgent and essential. Through leadership and collaborative event activations, Wellcare and The American Legion are committed to driving change and offering hope.
