The Consolidated Post Report and Consolidated Squadron Report tell the story of the good Legion and Sons members do for community, state and nation.
The 2024-2025 American Legion Consolidated Post Report (CPR) and Consolidated Squadron Report (CSR) submission deadline to National Headquarters was July 1. The goal is 100% reporting.
Since the deadline, 8,054 of the open 11,759 CPRs have been submitted for a 68.50% completion rate. And 2,275 of the open 5,666 CSRs have been submitted for a 40.15% completion rate.
Congratulations to 11 American Legion departments for achieving 100% post reporting – Alaska, Arkansas, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming. And three detachments achieved 100% squadron reporting – Delaware, Montana and Wisconsin.
The departments and detachments will be honored on stage at the 106th American Legion National Convention in Tampa, Fla., where they will receive a plaque.
Even though the deadline to submit the CPR and the CSR for award consideration at national convention has passed, posts and squadrons can continue to submit their reports until the end of the first week in September. Reports are online here or in MyLegion.org.
When The American Legion national commander testifies before Congress, the Consolidated Post Report data is used to provide numerical data of what the collective American Legion is doing. The Federal Charter requires the national organization to report to Congress on the activities of the corporation during the prior calendar year. The CPR is essential in collecting the data to compile this report to Congress.
The following are a few ways the Departments of Indiana and Wyoming achieved 100% reporting:
Indiana: The department has four documents that a post must turn in by close of books (second week of June) before it can receive new membership cards – Post Data Report, Post Officer Certification, Post Delegate/Alternate Certification, and a completed CPR. Each year, the newly elected Department of Indiana commander informs state officers what needs to be done by close of books at new officer orientation. Then at spring conference, the state membership chair briefs members on close of books activities and reminds the state and district vice commanders that they will not be able to pick up post membership cards until all four documents are completed and turned in to department headquarters.
The Department of Indiana also sends out weekly reminders to the state and district officers with a spread sheet that shows what posts have and have not submitted.
Wyoming: Last month, Department of Wyoming Adjutant Vanessa Stuart handed out hard copies of the CPR form to posts that had not filled one out (only one post out of the 28 present) at the department’s convention. Following convention, Stuart got the list of the posts that hadn't turned in a report, about 16, and started calling the commanders and adjutants to assist them in filling out the forms.
“Many of these post commanders/adjutants are not online, so assisting them to fill out the forms was well received by these officers who hadn't had that assistance in the past,” she said. “Also, since stepping into the adjutant position in February 2025, I have been training post adjutants who are able to use mylegion.org to do CPR's, transmittals, etc., which I believe has helped also.”
