Legionnaires, departments win tickets to Army-Navy Game

Tickets were awarded to the top three membership recruiters and top department in each region for November membership standings.

In early October, The American Legion launched a membership incentive in support of its associate sponsorship of the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA. Two tickets each to the Army-Navy Game would be awarded to the top three Legionnaires who recruited a minimum of three new members between Oct. 1 through Nov. 11.

Congratulations to the following three Legionnaires who, along with a guest, will attend the Army-Navy Game on Dec. 13 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md:

  • John Hargis of Post 174 in Morgantown, W.Va., who recruited 53 new members.
  • Kelly A. Valliere of Post 57 in Lake City, Fla., who recruited 46 new members.
  • Joseph E. Bares of Post 3 in Jordan, Minn., who recruited 22 new members.

Bares is bringing his wife, Holly, to the Army-Navy game which has been on his bucket list for a long time. When it came to recruiting for this incentive, as the Department of Minnesota membership director, Bares “wanted to set an example for everyone to go out and talk about this great organization we belong to. Explain to our friends, family and co-workers the four pillars, the benefits and our programs. It sold itself.”

Additionally, two tickets each were awarded to the top department in each of the five regions based on the Nov. 13 membership target date standings. The winners are the Departments of France, South Dakota, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
